Outdoor Recreation operates the Falcons Nest Fam Camp, two Shaw pools, Skeet and Trap Range, Recreation Supply equipment checkout, and the base picnic grounds. In addition it provides guided trips, classes and a wide variety of outdoor recreational activities to serve military personnel, their dependents, DoD civilians and retirees.
The Famcamp provides 20 RV parking sites with full hook-ups including water, electric and sewage. A bath house with shower facilities is also available. The two Shaw swimming pools operate seven days a week for open swimming from May thru September. Swimming lessons, water aerobics, lap swim and pool parties are also available.
The Skeet and Trap Range provides skeet, trap and archery shooting. Intramural shooting, special events and a small inventory of supplies are available. The recreation supply checkout provides patrons with items ranging from boats, motors and trailers to barbecue grills and ice chests. The base picnic grounds are located adjacent to Memorial Lake and include a covered pavilion with barbecue grills and picnic tables, rest rooms and playground equipment. Christmas Town USA
Saturday, December 13, trip leaves Out Door Recreation at 3 p.m. and returns 11 p.m. Cost is only $20 per person. Travel to McAdenville, North Carolina to see hundreds of thousands of twinkling christmas lights transform the small mill town.
Snow Ski Trip
Ski Gatlinburg Tenn. for Christmas! Trip leaves Outdoor Recreation December 19, 7 a.m. and returns December 21. Cost is $169 per person based on quad occupancy and $199 per person based on double occupancy.
Shem Creek, NYE Trip
Celebrate New Year's Eve in Charleston Dec. 31-Jan. 1. Registration deadline is Dec. 24, cost is $150 per person.

The Recreation Supply branch is collocated in the Outdoor Recreation office. Items available for rent are listed below. All rentals are available on a daily, weekend or weekly basis. We pride ourselves on providing everything you need for your recreational and gardening needs. Additionally, Recreation Supply sells hunting and fishing licenses.

A locked, fenced storage lot, located on the east side of the base near the skeet and trap range, is available for patron usage. Personal recreational vehicles (i.e. campers, boats, motor homes, and privately owned vehicles) may be stored by individuals that are going on temporary duty or permanent change of station, with a follow-on assignment back to Shaw. Individuals may register for use of this lot through Outdoor Recreation and individuals will be designated a parking spot number. Keys for the lot are controlled by Outdoor Recreation during normal duty hours and are available for checkout from the Lodging desk after normal duty hours with appropriate identification.
